Rent your "Ranger" from the Chamber of Commerce Visitor's Center in Uptown Sedona. Hop in your car, Plug the "Ranger" into the cigarette lighter, tune the car radio to 107.7 and go. The GPS unit will automatically start as you drive. Audio plays over the car speakers and video plays on the Ranger screen for the passengers to view.
The GPS Ranger is very easy to use. The GPS map tracks your adventure and highlights all the points of interest while guiding your course. As you explore Sedona, video segments automatically pop-up based on your location, providing rich information about the things you are seeing. Travel at your own pace, stop as often as you like, hike, take photos, then move on with the GPS Ranger as your guide.
The GPS Ranger is fun and entertaining for all ages and includes information about Sedona's vortex sites, ancient ruins, famous red rocks, popular hiking trails, Sedona’s geology, history, wildlife, the Movie Making history and lots of local trivia. There is even an amusing segment from the 1947 film "Angel and the Badman" starring John Wayne which was filmed in Sedona.
Three complete Sedona tours are included for a full day adventure at one low price:
1. The Cathedral Tour: Travel from Uptown Sedona to the Village of Oak Creek, on to Cathedral Rock and the banks of Oak Creek. Along the way you will be guided to popular rock formations, the Chapel of the Holy Cross, beautiful photographic vistas, hiking trails, vortex sites and more.
This tour typically takes about 2 to 3 hours depending on how long you stop at the points of interest and whether or not you hike on the trails.
For visitors with limited time we offer the Cathedral Tour at a special reduced rate.
2. The Oak Creek Canyon Tour: Oak Creek Canyon is diverse in geology, flora, and fauna. It is rich in history since it was the original home of Sedona’s pioneer settlers of the 1800s. The GPS Ranger guides you through this beautiful Canyon as the road meanders along Oak Creek to hiking trails, historic points of interest, geological wonders, and to the very magical West Fork Canyon. This tour typically takes about 1 to 2 hours depending on stops and hikes.
3. The Wild West Tour: This is it If you are seeking adventure! This tour takes you into Sedona’s back country and to ancient cliff dwellings that were home for the Sinaguan Indian Culture which moved into red rock country around 1100 a.d. While heading out, you are guided to great Scenic Vistas, Vortex sites, Hiking trails and through some of Sedona’s the most spectacular red rock country. Part of the journey is on dirt roads which are maintained, a little bumpy but passable in standard automobiles. You will want to allow at least 3 to 4 hours for this tour to spend plenty of time exploring the ancient ruins, petroglyphs, hiking trails and to take advantage of all the photo opportunities.
